Prefabricated buildings A world to learn
Quonset hut simply refers to semi cylindrical structures of lightweight metal. The structure has a semicircular cross section and is made up of iron as the base metal which is galvanized with a relatively less corrosive metal which adds to the strength and durability of the structure. The structure is so called since it was first manufactured in a place called Quonset Point in a village called Davisville in Rhode Island. Steel built erections are tough and resilient. Further some also use perforated sheets of steel so that it can be easily bend and become still lighter Lately Quonset Hut producers have used PVC and quite successfully so because of the low maintenance cost.
